HRHRIFF dedicated to Agung San Suu Kyi

HRHRIFF dedicated to Agung San Suu Kyi and awards on her birthday.

The inaugural Human Rights Human Dignity International Film Festival will be held in Yangon, Myanmar (Burma) from June 15-19, before going on a screening roadshow to 13 rural villages across the country.

Once isolated, now rapidly opening to the West, the Southeast Asian nation of Myanmar is set to debut a new film fest dedicated to an issue essential to its ongoing efforts at democratization and reform: human rights.

Under the theme “Human Rights, Human Dignity” submissions of documentaries, short films and animations have come in from filmmakers working around the world.

One filmmaker will be honored with the March13 Award. March13 is the date which is widely recognized as human rights day in Burma/Myanmar.  The presentation of awards on 19 June coincides with the birthday of Daw Agung San Souu Kyi to whom the festival is dedicated.

Spread out over 6 days, this event will see the candidates widdled down to a narrow group in an intense competition to see who will take the reigns and represent Europe’s gay community.  So, if your making your way through Europe this Summer, why not make a special stop in Prague and cast your vote for the man that could win it all!

NYC Pride

 

This June 28-30, the five boroughs of New York City are going to be overrun with joy and pride as New York Pride and Harlem Pride take over the city from all angles. Thousands of local and international visits will be welcomed to these amazing events and the city that never sleeps is truly going to be wide awake!

During the early morning of June, 1969 the underground gay club, Stonewall, was raided by police and inadvertently set of a massive movement focusing on the rights of the LGBTI community of NYC and the world! And, because of that, the lights of NYC burning extra bright every June 28 as people march, sing, dance and remember the fight that so many people before us all put up to get us to where we are now!

And, after your done sharing your pride in the heart of the city, head on over to Harlem and keep the party going there! A newer pride event to grace this big city, Harlem is opening its mind and its streets to let the proud flow over into its rich and vibrant neighborhood.

Hit the famous streets of this bayside, gay mecca and celebrate with thousands of revellers from all over the world.

With stages set up hosting a wide variety of musical acts and guest performers, guided city tours through some of the great haunts of the city and a parade that lights up the sky, San Francisco Pride is something that you will not want to miss!

Mr Gay World

Each year, the best and brightest of each country’s gay male community flock to an international locale to show off their pride and support their country at Mr. Gay World. For 2013, the festivities begin in July in Antwerp, Belgium where over a series of days, the group will dwindle down until only one man leads the pack and is crowned the winner of the global gay male community, where he will spend a year travelling the globe supporting the LGBTI community as Mr. Gay World.

The reigning champion is from New Zealand  and will be on hand to ensure that his crown and position are in good hands. So, why not start planning your journey to Belgium where you can support you own country’s best and relish in the prideful environment that this event promotes.

Angkor Wat World Heritage Site

Angkor is the world’s biggest archaeological site and its masterpiece, Angkor Wat, is the biggest sacred building on earth. It is possibly the World Heritage Site that attracts the most visitors – and there are nearly 1000 WHS parks around the world.

Tourists may not go to a country just to see heritage sites, but this is not the case for Cambodia.  It’s a must do if you go to Siem Reap, just 20 minutes from town to the World Heritage Park.
